Due to my battles with immature teratoma, one of the options to save and get my life back to ‘normal’ (what is normal anymore I don’t know🤷♀️) is a hysterectomy (surgery to remove the uterus). I was not OK with it in the first place. I always associated being a woman is motherhood, the pain of childbirth, having cycles and a functioning reproductive system. My amazing gynae assured me that since the recurrence, my tumors are highly aggressive and this might be the one option to save me. Through the painful decision-making process, I master the strength to focus on recovery ONLY and remind myself that you don’t need a uterus to be a woman. And here we are now 4 years later... I’m grateful that my absent uterus saves my life so this pin accompany with orchid and protea pincushion flowers that represent strength and courage is a beautiful reminder of that - love, mas .
